Is That Bad?
Thu Dec 18 2003

I need to say up front, I'm not catholic. While I've gone to the catholic church with friends in the past, I am not catholic.

That being said, I need to set the stage for you. When I was in my early teens, a majority of my friends and neighbors were catholic. I occasionally attended church or mass with any one of a number of them several times.

One time, while visiting the church with one of my friends during the middle of the week (it was probably confession, but at the time I was unaware of why we were there). While I waited for her to be done with whatever she was doing, I got bored.

You know those candles that are always lit in the church? The ones people light (I know why now, I didn't then) while they pray? Well, I thought it was silly to have them lit and unattended. It might cause a fire! So I put them all out.

Wasn't that kind of me?
