#2 had a problem with his teeth, that originally was thought to require oral surgery to repair. After being in braces for 6 months now, and the way his teeth have moved, that is now no longer required. The teeth that originally required surgical exposure have moved into the correct position to come in the way they are supposed to.
We still don't know whether the damage to the roots of one of his other teeth, caused by the offending teeth is severe enough to cause him to lose that tooth or not. We should know better next month when we will see the updated x-rays.
#1 has the same issue going on with his teeth, with the difference that there is only one problem tooth instead of two. We won't know whether that will require surgery or not until he has been in the braces long enough to re-arrange the surrounding teeth. I'm crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath on that one.
