Poor Puppy...
Sat Sep 13 2003

We were driving home this afternoon, and coming up our street saw a dog that seemed to be hesitating about crossing the road. I slowed just to be on the safe side if the pup decided to dart out in front of me. As we slowly passed her, we could see a look of misery on her face, and her nose full of quills.

I'd say she learned the hard way to leave porcupines alone.

Hubby and I were concerned that with the high population of small children in our neighborhood, one of the kids would get bitten in trying to help her out. We notified the local security folks, and headed out to keep an eye on her until she could be picked up.

Our concerns proved somewhat groundless as whenever anyone got within about 30 feet of her, she took off with extreme determination not to let anyone near her.

We eventually lost her, so we went back home to notify the security folks of her last known position.

I hope someone was able to get close enough to her to capture her and bring her in for attention. She looked so miserable. There was not a great deal of swelling that we could see on her muzzle, I suspect she had very recently been in the altercation with Mr. Prickly.

Meanwhile... Hubby has been packing tonight to leave for a week tomorrow. I get to wake up at Gross O'Clock to take him to the airport to catch his flight at 5:40am. He will be gone until next Saturday. I need to figure out something for Tuesday and Thursday nights to be sure the kids stay out of trouble. I had originally planned to bring the laptop and one child with me, then set them up to watch movies while I was in class. That idea was blown when Hubby decided to play with the laptop and now it doesn't work.

If I get done with all my homework (sorry to say it probably won't get done as I have TONS to do) I may try to wipe and re-load it. Push comes to shove, I will just duct tape the kids in their rooms.

I tried just duct taping one of them last time, but his brothers hung him up on the fence outside and used him as a pinata. I won't be doing that again.

Oh stop taking me seriously.
