Almost done for the day
Wed Jul 23 2003

While I will admit that I will never be done with laundry (particularly seeing the size of the pile the kids came up with after cleaning their rooms), I am pretty much done with all the work I had planned for myself for today.

The house is clean & vacuumed, the one room I wanted to shampoo the carpet in has been shampoo'd, and the only things I really have left are to move the items I took out back into the room when the carpet is dry, and dust.

The depressing thing about all this? After cleaning the house I didn't send the kids out to play. Subsequently there are now comic books (not mine) strewn all over the living room. I am planning to remedy that now. I just sent the twins off to the swimming pool, and #3 off to play with friends. Once I put the comic books away, my living room will once again be clean. At least until the kids get back home.

Actually I really have no reason to make complaints about the kids. For the last week their behavior has been so good you would never know that they had ADHD, and other behavior issues. I am completely enjoying and basking in this moment of their lives.

The twins are starting to assert their individuality. At 13 they are entering the stage where they know everything and Hubby and I are completely clueless. We are not quite there, but I can definitely see signs of it. They like getting off to places without us so they can flirt with all the cute girls. The swimming pool is the prime location for this activity. They revel in the freedom they have, jumping on their bikes and heading over to the pool(about 3 miles up the road). They feel that they are on their own and out from under the watchful eye of their parents. What they don't realize is while they are there I typically drive by a few times to monitor how they are doing. They have the illusion of freedom, and I have the comfort of knowing that they are safe and having a good time.
