Anxious
Tue Apr 22 2003

I am so anxious to really sink my teeth into school. There are so many classes I need to take, and even more that I want to take. I want to be able to do more than just nibble away with one class at a time, but need to find the patience to make do with that!

Ah well, taking just one at a time gives me the opportunity to beat up on the math and hopefully raise my GPA. Unfortunately 20 years ago when I first went away to college, I seemed to have majored in alcoholism and minored in Biology. That caused my GPA to nosedive into an undesireable level. Now 20 years later, and knowing better, I'm able to lift it up by the nose hairs and make it more presentable.

I have several math classes, a few chemistry classes, some physics and computer science classes to go until I can transfer to a 4 year school and knock out my last two years with whatever their requirements are. I will know better what these are once I narrow it down to one school instead of three. After I have that piece of paper to hang on my wall and dust weekly, I will be able to start taking classes for fun. At that time I won't mind taking only one at a time. Hopefully at that time I will also be back to work. I've convinced hubby to take some sign classes with me. This should help us as I continue to lose my hearing. With luck, the kids will expand on what they know (our previous school district taught sign to the elementary aged kids) and I will be able to successfully communicate with my family when I can no longer hear them. Then also comes the history, poli-sci, sociology, art and french classes I want to take. I forsee many-many-many-many-many-many years of taking classes for fun if I am able to!

Ah well, time to stop dreaming about school and go do laundry then finish my homework. Fun-fun! The homework that is, not the laundry...

When did you get a diagnosis of going completely deaf? How can that happen to a hearing person? What is the cause? I never heard about you even going to a doctor about your hearing, other then a ringing in your ears. Is there no specialist you can go to? Can you get hearing aids to help you? Melissa is taking American Sign Language next year at school so she can help us learn some, but I still can't believe you'll go completely deaf. How would they even know you would continue to lose hearing? Hearing aids would really help you now.
