Easter tips for families
Sun Apr 06 2003

As Easter approaches, I thought I would share some things I have discovered over the years with my children:

It is possible for egg dye to color the insides of a childs ears and nose.

Never put sticky candy directly into artificial grass for baskets.

Unwrapped edible items put into Easter baskets will be eaten by dogs and cats before the children discover them in the morning.

Rather than dyeing eggs multi-colors, older children prefer to dye their hair. Kool-Aid and Jello make the best and most cost efficient means of doing this.

Plastic Easter eggs can contain the same amount of coins that a 9 year old can hold in his or her hands.

Jelly beans will melt inside of plastic Easter eggs if left out in the sun.

Peeps will explode in the microwave.

After biting the ears off of a hollow chocolate bunny, the bunny will not hold 1/4 of a cup of milk.

A small child can fit two jelly beans into one nostril if he really tries, and has his older brothers help.

Jelly beans up one nostril cannot be shot out by covering the other nostril and blowing very hard.

When having an indoor Easter Egg hunt with real eggs, make a note or take a picture of where you hide EACH AND EVERY EGG.

Easter Eggs start to smell after one day if not refrigerated.

I'm sorry that your children behaved in this manner. This was not at all comical; it made me thank my lucky stars mine do not conduct themselves like this. I actually don't know of any children who behave like this, and yes I get out. Why are you allowing them to microwave peeps, fill chocolate bunnies with milk or dye their hair?

This is not archetypal behavior thank goodness. Easter is a very different experience for others, I'm sorry you never got to have a traditional one.
