While bemoaning their fates for the day, I'm enjoying the fact that all 4 of us will be under the same roof for at least a few hours. This doesn't happen often enough for me to not enjoy it, no matter what I'm doing!
We talked with #1 yesterday. He and Grandpa were having a clash of wills. Grandpa wanted him to get his hair cut, and #1 wanted to dye it green. We convinced them to compromise. By the end of the day, #1 had a hair cut, and a kit to whiten his hair, then dye it green. My dad was horrified that we would allow him to do this. We pointed out that by compromising, there was less of a fight, and by having his hair green now, there will be less of a chance of him wanting to do it as a teen for the sole reason of rebelling. Should he be teased at school for doing this, he will know not to do it next time. He won't learn by us telling him, no matter how many times we repeat ourselves. He needs to learn on his own through trial and error, of what works for him with his peers. While green hair may have been popular down here at home, it is not popular in the small more conservative community he is currently living in.
