MIL has at least one more in the hospital due to some irregularities on a blood test. Needless to say we are relieved that there is a reason for the hospital not to shove her out the door so soon.

We are not sure how this is going to affect MIL in the long run. She has already been confined to a wheel chair for the last 8 years or so because of MS. She has difficulties communicating due to extreme spasmodic dysphonia. Typically she is treated for this every couple months with botox injections into the muscles surrounded the voice box. Even with this treatment she is extremely difficult to understand. She has been living in assisted living facilities for many years, requiring aid in daily tasks and functions that most of us take for granted. She lived with my SIL for a while, until her needs were beyond that of what people not trained are able to render. We have asked her to come live with us on many occasions, and she repeatedly refuses.

It is frustrating for all of us to be unable to give her more than we are able. Hubby is frustrated and almost continually feels guilty that he cannot be closer and give her more attention and assistance. This is one of those situations that I don't think Hubby will ever really be able to resolve to his satisfaction.
