Grumble-grumble & various thoughts

I'm done with my Christmas shopping. I'm glad to be done with it so I don't have to go to the stores anymore. Why then does Hubby need me to go along with him to do his shopping?

Grumble-grumble.

Well, at least we found a good sale starting tomorrow on a 27 inch TV for my MIL! Of course if we want to get one we need to be at the store when it opens. The store opens the same time church starts. The kids will be glad they don't have to go!

It has been raining Persians and Poodles all day long. We are supposed to get our tree tomorrow and I seriously hope it stops at least for a while. Tree hunting is no fun in a downpour!

This United Airlines situation has been weighing on my mind lately. I have friends and family in the airline industry working everything from ticket agents to pilots. They work for Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and... United Airlines. My friend working for United has been the topmost on my mind. He has a young family and this time of the year with the holidays looming over him is not a time to be out of a job! He and his family have been foremost in my prayers lately.

More prayers have gone out for a friend of mine who has been looking for work since August. She is a single parent with a pre-teen son. While she has a supportive family, she still is on the search for a job to support the two of them.

Hubby talked with his Mom today. Her speech is clearer than it has been for quite a while. She suffers from a laundry list of maladies, some of them affecting her speech. She is being treated for this with botox shots into and around her larynx. It is painful for her, but the treatments last for several weeks and the result is that she is able to communicate.

Meanwhile, back in the bat cave, Hubby has done something to his back today. I have him on our warming masage pad doing some "Therapeutic Drinking" with a rather large glass of brandy to loosen up his muscles. When he is the consistency of jello I will try to adjust his back.

I suspect by the well toasted look he has right now, I will be doing the wrapping of all the gifts we bought today. Hmm, if I wait to do this when he and the kids are in bed I can put on one of my Hugh DVD's and drool while I wrap.

I think this is a Paperback Hero, Swordfish or Kate & Leopold kind of evening!
