Where the origins of the movie National Lampoons Vacation came from?

I always liked this story better than the movie, it reminds me a bit of my childhood.

    here's a question for ya:
    where abouts is the latest survivor series? is it in the amazon?? also, i'm wondering whether you know where the official website is
    as far as i'm aware, we still haven't got the latest series, whichever that one is
    boohoo :(
