Every room will have lights that will turn off automatically when you leave a room, even if you don't flip the light switch.
All sinks will automatically turn on with warm water just by placing your hands under the faucet. They will then automatically turn off when your hands are removed from under the faucet.
All toilets will automatically flush when the lid is put down (I have my boys trained to do this).
All doors going outside will have spring hinges, allowing them to close themselves after someone goes out or comes into the house.
There will be only one thermostat in the house. It will be digital and controlled with a pin number known only by me. Each room will be regulated by opening or closing the vents (I will allow everyone to do this for themself).
There will be a warm water faucet on the outside of the house for washing the cars and dogs.
All the windows will be dirt resistant and will open in a manner that is easy to clean both inside and outside when they do need it.
All the closets will be extra deep, and have LOADS of storage space.
My kitchen would take too long to describe, but suffice to say it would include oak flooring and cupboards, granit counter tops (green or blue) with back splash, recessed counter lighting and stainless steel appliances. A big deep window over the sink with room for a small herb garden. Either sky lights or the canister sky lights. LOTS of windows for good natural light. This site has a lot of what I would want in my kitchen.
The garage would be big enough for the vehicles, a shop for Hubby, room for all our bikes, tools, seasonal decorations and stuff. This means it will either be very deep, or about a 4 car width!
Between the garage and the house will be a large Laundry/Utility/Mud room. There will be a shower stall in it to prevent the more dirty people from bringing that dirt into the house. There will also be a floor that is slightly concave, with a drain in the lowest point of the room. I've had my washing machine overflow enough times that I would want a place for the water to go if it happens again. It will also have shelf and/or cupboard space for a good sized pantry. The flooring will be aesthetically pleasing, with a surface that is of a non-slip substance (I haven't found this yet).
While I would prefer hardwood floors throughout the house, Hubby prefers wall to wall carpet. I think that will be a compromise. I suspect it will end up with hardwood in all the common areas, and wall to wall cushy carpet in the bedrooms, and maybe the living room or family room.
The hallways and doors throughout the house will be wider than normal, allowing distance for a Great Dane to wag it's tail without coming in contact with wall or doorframe!
And the most important aspect of the house, NO STAIRS!
