Venison
Wed Oct 30 2002

#2 & #3 are munching on Frosted Flakes, discussing whether or not they think they would like venison. Not your normal breakfast conversation!

#2 is currently reading My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. He is enjoying it and sharing bits and pieces with #3. Their discussion as to whether or not they would like venison or rabbit better is quite amusing. I got dirty looks though when I told them that rabbit tasted like chicken and venison tasted like beef, only more gamey. I think I shattered their illusions.

Today I will have the joyous task of hollowing out the pumpkins for the kids so they can carve them tonight. Normally this is a task we let the kids do themselves, but since I don't enjoy cleaning up the mess created by little boys hollowing out their own pumpkins I'm doing that task myself this year. It will be nice to not have to pick up pumpkin seeds from various locations from now until Thanksgiving! Keeping Indigo away from the pumpkins should be fun. She LOVES raw pumpkin meat. I will need to remember to put the gate up in the kitchen so she can't come in and help herself to a snack when my back is turned!

I think to alleviate the tediousness of hollowing them out, I will have to put one of the Hugh movies on and watch it. Today seems like a Swordfish kind of day.

I always thought rabbit tasted more like turkey dark meat...

and good luck keeping the pets away from the pumpkins. Every year puppy dog eats at least one whole pumpkins worth (and spends an hour sick in the backyard). Nothing seems to deter her!

We didn't get a windstorm, but have had some pretty good gusts for the past 12 hours. Just wish it would blow one way and take all the fallen leaves with it!
