There has only been one day this year that #3 has brought home homework. I check his backpack daily, and it is always empty. It seems that he has in fact had LOTS of homework on a daily basis, and has failed to bring it home EVERY SINGLE DAY.
#3 is currently scurrying to finish some of the backlogged math homework, I suspect he will be catching up in that for a few days to come.
There is also a book he is to keep. Each week they have a different letter and they have to make a decorated border on the pages for that week and do research and write all the information they come up with on various things starting with that letter. As he has not truly done any of this, and the class is currently on the letter D, I suspect this will take more than a few days in playing catch-up on this project!
I don't remember having anything like this to do when I was in the 3rd grade. While I will admit that it was more than a few years ago, I still don't remember having as much "homework" as my kids have now. Even all throughout high school, I remember some math, the occasional paper, and Spanish (this was the only thing I had homework for every day).
The education system has sure changed since then! I don't know if there is more homework due to less time spent in class (I don't remember having all the days off my kids now do), or if there is just so much more that they are being taught now.
Well, looking over at #3, I think he may be done with this math sheet as he is pumping his arms above his head and making the sounds of a crowd cheering. Time to go check his work!
