Waking up
Sat Oct 12 2002

Saturday morning rears its head and sleep is slowly being banished by Dr. Pepper. There is nothing better than cold, carbonated caffeine to help me get started in the morning.

We had rented Harts War last night, it was pretty good. I don't know that it matches up to the hype made about it. As far as a Bruce Willis flick goes though, this one actually had a plot. For the viewing pleasure of #3, Jimmy Neutron was just what the Doctor ordered.

I briefly considered going for a walk this morning, until I took the dog out and discovered that it is COLD! The walk will definitely wait until it warms up! While I have been known to take walks in it, Hubby tends to have sinus problems being out for long in the cold. As I don't want him to have a headache today, we are delaying all outdoor ventures until it warms up. Maybe I can use this delay to convince everyone that a family hike around Pt. Defiance Park would be fun.

#1 flies home today from DC. I will be very glad once they are outta there! While I think he has had some fun on this trip, he has been frustrated with all the time spent in the car driving from one place to another. I remember as a child being frustrated by sitting in the car playing the Are We There Yet? game. I know that #1 had a few books with him, and my Dad brought his computer to help #1 stay entertained with computer games. Hopefully that contributed to maintaining sanity for him.

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, dunno about that.
If he has to resort to subterfuge to get attention, what is the attention that he is missing out on that leads him to need to do this?
Some kids NEED more attention than others but parents don't always have the time to give it, especially as he is #3.
Being sick is one SURE way of getting attention because parents can't really ignore it.
    Or can they?
I'm not brave enough to tell people how they should be raising THEIR kids,
    buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut,
there may be a little more to #3's hypochondria problem than your observations indicate.
    Take care

    Allie,
My youngest is somewhat like that. For a long period of time at bedtime he would find some complaint, a stomach ache, headache etc. I would give him the "once over" and he outgrew that. Even now if he gets a tiny scratch he has out the peroxide and betadine. He is such a tough little boy till it comes to any "owies."
