Alec made this move much easier for #3. Having a best friend so immediately located has done wonders for his attitude. During the summer it was a common sight on our street to see the two boys scurrying back and forth between the two houses, coming up with one scheme or another to amuse them. Most of their schemes involved finding a way to get wet and stay cool. Their primary source of this was putting the sprinkler under the trampoline while they jumped and played for hours.
We recently found out that sometime in November or early December, Alec and his family will be moving to Florida, which is in the opposite corner of the country. I'm wondering how #3 will take this move. While he does have other friends in the neighborhood, there are none so close to him as Alec. #3 knows about the move, but does not seem to have really realized the implications of it yet. Of course he could be following the example of his Mom and be playing Cleopatra, Queen of Denial.
