On the weekends if we are not doing anything, I try to give the kids a drug holiday, as recommended by their doctor. While this does give their bodies a chance to grow, it also serves to remind everyone around why they are medicated in the first place. For me, these days are an exercise for me to find new and exciting ways to keep them apart from each other.
Hubby and others in his pay situation have ganged up on the folks at finance to find out when their pay will be fixed. All of these folks are due a good chunk of change in back pay dating back to last January. In September they were told they would see it in either the mid September or first of October paycheck. Now they are being told they should see it no later than November 7th. If we don't see it by then, I'm seriously thinking about a direct contact to the Governor, the State Rep, and everyone else I can get addresses for. If the military is not going to be responsible for their own finances, they better stop harping on all these folks who are unable to pay all their bills due to a fault not of their own doing.
Our local Fire Department is having a "Fire Truck Parade" today. They are driving up and down all the streets in the neighborhood, throwing candy to the kids, and people in mascot costumes are handing out hugs and high fives. All the kids in the neighborhood think this is wonderful. Fire Trucks driving by with the sirens wailing away. Of course my neighbor who works the grave shift and currently trying to sleep is out teaching the kids new words for their vocabulary... the little kids think it is wonderful that they now know a word to rhyme with duck!
