Family Ties

Went to dinner with Bro & wife. Kids loved getting to see kitty we took over there last weekend. She was playing hard to get though and hid behind the couch most of the time.

#1 has been very emotional about this whole move. He and Bro had some one on one time together for a talk and #1 seems more at ease now. I think it helps him knowing that he has someone (besides Mom who is obviously clueless and a dork)to talk with when he needs.

Miss Manners

We went out for dinner with my Bro last night, and I saw something at the restuarant that has really been bothering me.
My parents always raised us to be very aware of our table manners, and to be sure to use our best manners when in public. It almost seems as if our manners during meals was practically drilled into us.

Last night at this restuarant, I saw a man EATING HIS PEAS WITH HIS KNIFE!!!! I was so shocked I almost dropped my handful of mashed potato's.

    I can (unfortunately) top that.

I always thought the peas-off-a-knife bit was a gag. You know, just something people said when they wanted to make a point. Then, just a few months ago, I served dinner at home that included peas as a side. The Professor picked up his knife and calmly started corralling and eating the peas with it! I swear, I was positively sputtering. I honest-to-God thought he was doing it to get my goat, since I frequently chastise him about points of etiquette.

He looked at me with complete innocence and wanted to know what was wrong with it. His family ate peas like that all the time. When I tried to explain, he gave me one of those long suffering looks that let me know I wasn't getting through.

He still doesn't get it. I've forbidden him to order peas in public.
