I technically have the week off from work so I can be home with the kids. However, I need to dial in and put between 8 and 10 hours in updating documentation before I leave this job.
My kids were very quick to discover that while Mommy has the laptop on and is working, she does not always hear what is going on around her, or is slow to respond to things that happen.
Now, obviously (a.k.a. usually) if anything happens in the room I am working in (the living room, next to the dining room with the spilled black model paint on the previously gold rug) I will respond fairly promptly (within a few minutes at least). This being the case when the basketball went flying past the Christmas Tree into the dining room, the kids learned to keep it out of the living room. In particular, they discovered that if they go up into their room(s), turn on their radio or play a CD, I am almost sure to not hear or know what is going on. That is how they all ended up with blue faces.
I was relieved to find that they were not suffocating, but frustrated to find that my blue sharpie is now out of ink.
Duct tape. Tomorrow I MUST remember the Duct tape.
At least tomorrow I should have the opportunity to escape and drool over Hugh Jackman in Kate & Leopold.
HHHHHHUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH.....TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you hear what I hear? My mind echoes with the memories of warmth, peace, comfort so profound there are no words to describe it. "I'm here, come to me...." I answer the call, slowly rushing to the unavoidable abyss known as sleep...... "I'm here, come to me...." Darkness closes around my consciousness, claiming me into the deep bounds of comfort. "I'm here, come to me...." Sleep, sleep.
Throughout the silent house I can here it whisper....
"I'm here, come to me...."
