The Knee, part IV
Sun Jun 28 2009

So, I saw the doctor. He informed me that the meniscus was torn, after which I commented that I had already been given that information and I was there to find out what is next.

He seemed a bit confused by this, so I elaborated “I KNOW THE MENISCUS IS TORN, WHAT IS THE TREATMENT?????”

He explained that this was not his area of expertise, and as a family practitioner he would only be able to refer me to specialists to determine what is next. After I was done banging my head against the wall, he gave me a referral to Orthopedics and Physical Therapy. He let me know that the folks over in Orthopedics would make the determination as to whether or not I needed physical therapy only, or also need surgery.

So, now I wait some more. Isn’t this fun?

    Sigh.

Maybe we should start doing our own diagnostics.

We do everything else. I may have to write about that.

I hope they put you in the fast lane.

    Fast.

You went to the doctor to have him tell you what you already know. Great.

Well, at least you got the referral.
