Some Changes Should Be Advertised, or AVOIDED
Tue May 26 2009

Once upon a time, the Air Force ran the clinic located on the Air Force base. During those glory years, they kept 2 or 3 appointments open each day for “walk-in’s”, ER follow-ups, or emergencies (non-ER emergencies).

Some time back, the Army took over the clinic on the Air Force base. The above practice it appears is no longer kept.

I called first thing (0730) this morning, and was told an RN would be returning my call. I received no call by 10, so I called again and was given the same message. Same story at noon. Finally about a half an hour ago, I got tired of waiting and called specifically asking when I would get a call back. It seems that messages given to the RN’s are typically returned in THREE TO FOUR DAYS. At no time in the first three phone calls was this mentioned, and when the Air Force ran the clinic if you wouldn’t hear back from your medical team that day, they informed you of this.

So, I called and made an appointment. I will be seen tomorrow afternoon at 1:00, at which time I plan on filling out a survey that will leave no doubt in anyone’s mind how I feel about the lack of courtesy, and ridiculous policy that has been put in place without informing patients of the change.

I REALLY need to find a civilian PCP soon so I don’t have to deal with the, dare I say, stupid policies the Army has brought with them in the takeover of the Air Force facility.
