I called Hubby over, who helped me hobble into the house and onto the recliner where I could get my leg up. He got me one of the many bags of frozen peas/corn from the freezer and I plopped it down on my knee and sat to wait for the blessed numbing that is only available through application of ice.
About an hour later (and a second bag of frozen veggies), I took a test-step, then immediately hollered upstairs for #2, asking for him to bring down his crutches (thankfully I didn’t get rid of them after his need of them a few years back). I gimped around a bit more, and then accepted the fact that I might want someone to take a look at it.
Hubby and I headed into the ER around 2 in the afternoon, and were home by 6. I think that’s the shortest ER trip we’ve EVER had.
I should mention, this is the knee I had surgery on 30 years ago. There is a screw placed such that my trick knee no longer performs tricks (which is a good thing).
The X-ray didn’t show any fractures, or any problems with the screw (which is what Hubby and I thought may have happened). Instead, the doc “thinks” that the soft tissue at the bottom of the knee has been torn. He suggested a CAT scan or MRI would tell more, and referred me to the clinic today or tomorrow. I don’t think they will do an MRI with the screw in my knee, and I guess I will find out if they do a CAT scan after I bully my way in to see a doc today.
I suppose I could look on the positive side, my 3 day weekend has turned into a 4 day weekend!
