Berries-Berries Everywhere And Not A Day To Can
Thu Jul 17 2008

I'm not going to miss out like I did on the strawberries. I bought two flats of raspberries and two flatts of marionberries, washed them, bagged them (in pre-measured quantities) and popped them into the freezer. I'm looking forward to getting more berries and preparing them in the same way so when I actually have a full weekend (I think it will happen this summer, we will have to wait and see), I'm going to make jam. LOTS and LOTS of jam.

I have to start washing and freezing the blueberries as they become ripe so I can make more sugarless triple berry jam.

And apricots.

Since I missed strawberries I'm trying to come up with something to use it in for jam. I wonder how apricots and rhubarb would be together for a jam? Or blueberries? Or maybe just rhubarb jam?

I've got a friend coming into town tomorrow for a visit. I haven't seen her in about 10 years. She will be traveling with her son, who is just a couple months younger than #3. The two boys were best buds when they were babies and toddlers until my friend moved back to Wisconsin.

I'm going to have the kids set up the tent so #3 and friend can camp out tomorrow night.
