Birth Announcement... Again

Once again, it's a boy! And a girl! And a boy! And...

The Mantids have hatched and we've got a few hundred little critters out back starting on the all-you-can-eat buffet of the insects in my back yard munching on my veggies and other plants. I've put slug bait out on a regular basis, so I know it's not just (or at all?) slugs, now I need to sit back and let the little critters feast.

We had the neighbor kids out back with jars capturing them and relocating them throughout the yard and various other yards in the neighborhood. Separating them will prevent the cannibalism amongst the newly hatched and famished Mantids, so we will have that many more to feast on the neighborhood pests.

I know, I know. They also eat the beneficial insects. But with the amount of ants, earwigs, and decidedly UNFRIENDLY beetles in my garden and neighboring yards I’m willing to deal with that.

OK, time to start winding down for the evening.

Ugh. I hate these bug and slug infestations. Maybe since we had a big winter itis so bad - then again- since we had a big winter last year, shouldn't there be less?

Let me know if you find a way to get rid of all the snails. I have a bazillion of them and am not only using the snail bait, but smashing every one I see.

Makes me feel better - heh heh
