I should point out that I knew that we needed 1 cubic yard at the most, but I ordered 5 cubic yards. The aforementioned 5 cubic yards of dirt (the invoice refers to it as 4-way mix, just in case you were interested) was delivered shortly after noon. Between Hubby, myself, #1 (for about an hour) and #3 (for about 15 minutes), we got the whole thing distributed throughout the yard by 5:00.
We used the additional dirt for getting started on a back yard project we were going to do in the next couple months. That project is now a little more than ¾ of the way done.
This evening Hubby and I are moaning, groaning, popping Ibuprofen like M&M’s and wondering if we will be able to move in the morning.
Ah, the morning. We are planning on starting the day off at the Y sitting in the hot tub. From there we will be going to Home Depot to pick up a little bit of lumber and some wire so I can put the berries in (my raised veggie beds are being converted to a berry patch). We will also be transplanting my Mock Orange into The Kidney, and I will be planting (and pruning) some fruit trees in the back yard.
I should say that #2 will be planting them since he will be my designated hole digger tomorrow. He is also building the cradles for the berries since he has garnered some experience in that area lately.
As for the berries, I’m putting in Marionberries, Boysenberries, Raspberries, transplanting my Blueberry, and putting in Black Currants. We will be putting an apple tree into one area of the yard, and along the back fence a few plums and pears (I’m considering a peach or two, but my neck of the woods is not known for having much success with peaches, so maybe not).
I will have pictures when we are done tomorrow (at least, I’m planning to take the pictures then), so look for pictures of the finished project in the near future!
