I went through three of the nursery catalogs I’ve received and compiled a wish list of the plants I would like to put into my kidney. Then I took out my trusty calculator and tallied it all up… and screamed at the number that was in front of me.

Needless to say, it is going to take a few years to get everything into my kidney that I want to get into it!

So I came up with a short term fix. I plan on getting one or two of the plants I want this year, and for the rest of the bed I picked up a canister of wildflower seeds (Butterfly & Hummingbird mix) that I will scatter in the non-planted spaces. Most of the flowers will be annuals, but it does have a few perennials (Purple Coneflower, Lemon Mint, and Maltese Cross) and a bi-annual (Foxglove… which is the only bi-annual I’m familiar with). I figure I’ll let whatever comes up next year stay where it is and fill in the blank spots with more of the plants on my list, and so on for a few years.

Of course, before I can do anything I need to order some top soil to create the mound in which to plant all those lovelies!

I also must admit I’m really looking forward to getting my Mock Orange Innocence out of its container and into the ground. My front yard should be perfumed nicely this June!

*sigh* I have to be content with whatever can be grown in a pot on the patio.

That looks like a winner. Now I need to check what growing zone Sacrmento is in. Yetzirah would know. Oh, I'll just google it.

    Thanks!
