I’m proud and amazed at myself this weekend, I actually got my desk cleaned. This may not sound like much, but I have a rather large desk, and the entire top of it has not been seen all at one time since last April. I also upgraded the ram in my ‘puter to 2 GB, and reconfigured the set up of it. The computer had been in a little cabinet under the desk, but since I couldn’t get the door closed all the way (which was driving me nuts), I moved it to a free-standing location under the desk. I also got my 500 GB external drive hooked up and running. I now have room to move around in my computer!
Of course, that hard drive is going to be gobbled up as soon as we get all of our computers backed up onto it, but that’s beside the point! While I wish that it could be shared at all times, I have to share the ip address between my desktop and my laptop. All of our computers and printers have designated ip addresses, and we ran out of available addresses, so these two machines share one. This gives me the choice of being on my laptop, or my desktop, but both can’t be running at the same time.
This doesn’t worry me too much as I haven’t yet mastered being in two places at one time, but there are some scenario’s in which I might want to have both up and running at the same time. I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
OK, time to go start to think about dinner. I see chicken in my near future…
