Let There Be Light!
Mon Dec 18 2006

Power has been restored, and all is well and warm (and much less smelly after we all got showers) in the Allimom household.

A storm blew through here at the end of last week that left most of the region in the dark. As a result of the storm, the last day of class on Thursday was cancelled, and the 3 finals that were to be e-mailed out before yesterday has not yet arrived as my instructors apparently are still in the dark. As I worked long hours this weekend, this has turned out to be a good thing. I have today and tomorrow off, so I hope that I get the tests before then as I’m not sure when I’ll take them after Wednesday. It seems that almost every waking hour Thursday through Saturday will be spent working according to my schedule. I don’t know about Sunday yet as that schedule has not been made out. Boy do I hope I have the day off, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

We got lucky with this last storm. No damage to any of our personal property from the high winds, and despite sub-zero overnight temperatures and downright chilly daytime temperatures, the house never dropped below 62. Thank God for a gas fireplace and a well-built house!

I took #2 and #3 out to Wal-Mart this morning to brave the crowds and do some shopping for Hubby and #1. We were thrilled to see that the crowd was not bad at all. It helps going in the morning when everyone is at work! I’m going to try the same tomorrow morning with #1 to shop for #2 and #3.

I’ve got a couple other irons in the fire for the winter break other than the holidays and work. I’ve got some crochet projects I would like to get done before next term starts on January 8, and some household projects (specifically, cleaning and organizing my closet and the pantry) in addition to the crocheting. I’m starting to get the feeling that I may not be able to get to those. We will see.

Have you scheduled 5 minutes to just sit and stare into nothing?

The winds were pretty impressive here, but I think your area got hit harder. Glad all is well and your power restored.

What are you planning/hoping to crochet?
