#1 and #2 have been stressing over this for the last two weeks, having to think about things like dinner, corsages, and (gasp!) clothes. Will they clash with their dates??? Heaven forbid!
Finally I took them aside and asked if they wanted some help. On the clothing front they refuse to wear suits, but they now have black dress slacks and very nice long-sleeved button-down shirts with ties colorful enough to not be boring, but neutral enough to not clash with whatever the girls FINALLY decide they are going to wear (they have been through a rainbow of different colored dresses so far). I took the kids to a florist to order wrist corsages (again, the dresses have varied enough that I decided to play it safe).
Lastly, dinner. Neither of the twins drive, so we all came up with a plan together for the boys to take their dates to Café Allimom. Hunkka-Hunkka Hubby and I will be playing Chef and Hostess, #3 has agreed to take the dog and disappear upstairs for the duration of dinner and a menu was decided upon. We will be serving soup, followed by Chicken Cordon Bleu with fresh green beans and mashed potatoes, sparkling cider and capping off the dinner is a lemon cheesecake I picked up today.
We’ve got candles (school colors of course), a nice tablecloth, fine linens (not paper towels for a change!), fine china, silver and wine glasses to dress the table in. The twins have been given money for pictures, and all is set.
We just need to get through the next 18 hours with the twins nerves intact and we will be fine! I wonder if I have a valium around here somewhere? For me, not them.
