The Interview(s)
Fri Oct 20 2006

The initial interview went well. So well in fact that they asked me if I would be interested in a different position there (I originally applied for a cashier position) as they thought it was a better fit based on my background. I said yes, so they had me interview with a second person today who has scheduled me for an interview tomorrow afternoon with a third person. If that interview goes well I will be scheduled with yet another interview with the store manager which the second person I spoke with today equates with pretty much a guarantee to hire.

The position I'm now in line for is an office position running financial reports and doing the daily deposit, in addition to light office work answering phones, scheduling interviews and doing other office-oriented tasks. If I get the position my hours will be from 7AM to between noon and one. I let them know that I can’t work Saturdays due to school and they had no problem with that.

The job pays very little. I don’t care though, I’ve been out of the work force for four and a half years now and I miss it. This will give me a couple hundred dollars a month to help buy Christmas presents and anything above that will be stashed away for our California trip next August.

More importantly, it will get me back out there so after I finish my degree I will already be back in the working mind-set. I will have almost daily exposure to other adults, which will be a VERY welcome change from the past few years!
