There is nothing quite like the first day of school. By comparison to previous mornings, my house is quiet. Oh sure, there is the hum of the dishwasher in the background, and the tumbling of the dryer upstairs. What there ISN’T is the blaring of the TV with some obnoxious cartoon playing, or the arguing of kids over trivial things that drive every parent crazy.

I walked up to the bus stop with #3 today, which (much to their embarrassment) was also with #1 and #2 since their bus arrives only a few minutes before his. We are seeing if he is able to ride the regular bus this year. This will be the first time in a couple years that he goes to a school near us and can ride the regular bus rather than being picked up at our driveway and bussed all the way over to the other side of the school district. He is both excited and scared. There was one other student there that he knew, the rest were potential friends. I spent a half hour this morning convincing him that all the kids he didn’t know were NOT in fact strangers, but potential friends. I think he had that firmly in mind when he boarded the bus.

As for me at this moment in time, the downstairs has been vacuumed and dusted, the dishes done and most things (other than things I need for doing homework in a little bit) have been put away. I got them put away almost an hour ago, and THE HOUSE IS STILL CLEAN!!!!!

I should take pictures to show Hubby when he gets home tonight so he will believe me when I tell him that at one point for several hours today the house was indeed clean!

It IS nice for things to stay in their place for a while after all our hard work getting them in order.
    Enjoy your quiet time. ;-)

How sweet the peace is in an empty house after months of hostile occupation, lol. Enjoy it!

I like the way you referred to the children your son didn't know as potential friends rather than strangers.
He'll go in there with an open mind about getting to know all of them which is just awesome :o)

And yay for the clean house....take pictures - do it! You don't know when it will look like that again ;o)

RYC: yeah, I'd like a patch, too, because I forget to take my meds when I'm feeling good. Actually, about 5 years ago my psychiatrist told me that Prozac was being released in a time released pill that you'd only have to take every few days. I've never been on Prozac but she said that most of the newer generation SSRI's stay in the blood stream for several days so if you miss a dose or two it really isn't a big deal.

I'm glad to see you backing me in a public forum because it's important for people to know that there IS help out there and that we depressives won't be treated like second class citizens.
