Countdown to School
Sun Sep 03 2006

The kids are in their final days of summer freedom, and a look of panic has been etched on their faces for the last couple days.

School in these parts starts on Wednesday, and day before yesterday all three boys realized that they only had a handful of days left in which to cram in all the things they wanted to do this summer that didn’t get done.

We will be taking the kids either to the lake or the pool sometime today so they can get a dip in before all the outdoor swimming resources close for the season, and I’ve been approached on the average of once every 5 minutes since I woke up with the question of when we will be leaving. Right now it’s only a little after 9, and WAY to freaking cold to go swimming. The kids will have to wait!

As for me, I’ve got applesauce to make and homework to do. At least one of those two will be worked on today depending on how much time we spend in the great outdoors today.

I’ve also got a countdown of my own going on. With school rapidly approaching, I’m really hoping I can start working sometime in the next few weeks. There are some credit cards I’d really like to get paid off, and we have a trip we want to take next summer that we need to start getting in a position to pay for.

Next summer will be the summer before the twins senior year. We would like to fit in a last “big” family vacation before they get off and involved in their lives and time will be hit and miss for us all getting together. With that in mind, we turned our thoughts towards Disneyland.

While I don’t care for the idea of Southern California in August, there also happens to be an event going on down there next August that Hubby and I would really like to be a part of. We are hoping to do the whole two birds with one stone thing with the family trip and attending this event. If we want to do that in comfort, I need to bring in some extra money!

OK, I’ve been queried again as to when we will be going swimming. I’m off to distribute chores to keep them busy for a little bit and give myself a reprieve from the questions.

I don't recall reading about any interest in drums, before this. So what's the attraction now?

The comics have several strips about OMG school is about to start. It puzzles me. I always looked forward to school starting. Am I the odd one?
