While shopping at Wal-Mart yesterday afternoon, I realized I hadn’t taken anything out of the freezer for dinner. Being at Wal-Mart, this didn’t present a problem as I only had to swing through the grocery section and pick something up. Bar-B-Que’d chicken hindquarters sounded yummy, so I picked up a package of hindquarters that was on sale, a bottle of sauce (making sure there was no molasses in it), headed home and popped it all in the fridge to await dinner time.
Hubby got home, got changed and went out to fire up the grill while I dunked the hindquarters into the sauce. I opened the package and the smell hit me, the entire package was bad.
I had Hubby turn the grill off, we disposed of the chicken (unfortunately yesterday was trash day, so it will sit in the can for a while week before being picked up), washed up and made a quick decision. There was nothing else ready for cooking, and there is a Shari’s restaurant not too far away.
So… I was disappointed to not have BBQ’d chicken, but very pleased to not have a kitchen and dining room to clean up!
