Yesterday & Today
Wed Jun 28 2006

Yesterday was quite entertaining. I need to remember to find EXTREMELY dark glasses for the next time I get my eyes dilated. Driving home was painful to say the least.

I got home, and since I couldn't see anything up close I focused on big things for the day, namely furniture. I vacuumed the downstairs, moved furniture around (well, the furniture I was able to move, the TV will have to wait for another day) and then vacuumed again. I’m satisfied with the results.

About the time my eyes returned to their normal functioning status it was time to take my folks to the airport. I dragged #1 along with me so I could use the carpool lane, but ended up taking back roads home as the freeway was a parking lot. We got home just in time to put steaks on the grill.

We ended up only grilling enough for last night, but tonight I made up for it with chicken breasts. We grilled up enough tonight that we should be able to eat for the next two days without cooking! I’m particularly looking forward to grilled chicken over salad with salsa for dressing. YUM!

Today was my mid-term. Between interruptions from the kids, the dogs bouncing off the walls, taking Hellby for a walk, and dinner, it took about 5 hours to complete it. Not too bad compared to my math tests in the past!

I also took the kids to the high school to sign up for summer school starting next week and State Testing re-takes in August. #1 is entirely unsatisfied with this, and has been verbalizing his displeasure. He made a comment about my not being able to drag him there to do it no matter how hard I try. I think maybe I need to have Hubby conduct a conversation with #1 involving Hubby’s hand and #1’s butt. The attitude is something I don't want to deal with continually for the next month and a half.

I think dilating eyes is a torture as it takes the doc only a minute or two to see what he/she needs to see, while the effects last for hours afterward. When R had his last cataract surgery whatever they used to dilate his eye lasted for nearly two days, can you imagine!

You are SO busy. Being a Mom and a Wife are full time jobs in themselves, but going to school, too, is heroic!

Sounds like #1 is trying to upgrade his position in the family. Not just #1 kid, but #1 in the pack. It happens. They have to test the waters. Or the parental stamina. ;)

    Shalom

RYN: It was a decadron shot and it DID help for about 12 hours (took an hour or two, maybe less to feel the effects of it). I'll let them stick me again if they want, but am hoping to get something a little more lasting too this time. Breathing is entirely underrated until you can't do it!!!
