#2 was snooping around for snack items a bit ago; going through the store bought canned fruits I had in search of something yummy. It brought home the fact that I really must put up more fruits this year. We’ve been out of everything but cherries (of which I put what seems like TONS of up) since September. I think I need to really focus on lots and lots of applesauce as well as peaches, nectarines, pears and apricots this year. Heck, I may even go for a fruit cocktail if I run across good enough sales on several things at the same time.
#2 has also asked that I put up more pickled asparagus this year than I did last year. He went through that like it was water! He has also asked that I put up some berries this year, so I may need to buy more supplies for my vacuum sealer so I can freeze a bunch of those. Hubby has been making noises about sauerkraut, so I may give that a try also.
Soups are the other thing I want to put up this next year. I’m out shopping for recipes to consider, and am hoping I come across something that everyone in the family will like.
Now… I’m off to open up a jar of cherries, which as we all know is better than opening up a can of worms!
