School Thoughts
Wed Jan 18 2006

I've been looking at what I need in order to graduate with my degree in Computer Science, and I'm getting so close I can almost taste it. Providing that I'm able to get two classes each term (although I can go one term with only one class) I should graduate May 2007.

With this in mind, I started thinking about if I wanted to tag a minor onto my major, and if I REALLY wanted to, I would only need 4 more classes to have a minor in math.

The question is, do I really want to do this? It would push my graduation date out to December 2007 or later depending on if and when they offer the additional classes I need.

Hubby suggests I get my degree, then eek away at the additional classes until I finish those. While I like the idea of this, I also know myself. I suspect that once I finish my degree I don't know that I would continue to take the additional classes. I want to just be done, you know what I mean?

Speaking of school, I'd better make sure the kids are on track, I'm hearing sounds that aren't those of getting ready to go to the bus!

Addendum
Ironically I took a look at what the requirements were for a degree in math, and if I'm reading the requirements correctly I would only need 6 additional classes to have a BS in math on top of my Computer Science degree.

I would be much more willing to take 6 classes for an additional degree than 4 classes for only a minor. The disadvantage to this is for at least three of the classes I would need to drive down to the main campus as they are not offered at the campuses I go to now. Bummer, but maybe worth it. I need to think about it.

But if you don't take the additional classes, will you regret it later? Probably.

If you do regret it, you can always go back and pick up the classes you need for the minor. I suspect you may be the perennial student.

Besides, that extra minor makes you even more attractive when you go job hunting. You have another 4(?) years before you can go to work full time, and the xtra income from a higher paying job will surely help toward the boys' college exenses.

    Just a thought.

Hope you find a way to complete the course you wanna do.
Knowledge is so powerful - esp when it's PC/technology related!

    Good luck!
