A Real Holiday For A Change
Fri Nov 25 2005

Yesterday I think I really experienced a real holiday for the first time in my adult life.  Usually on Thanksgiving I'm rather on edge, whether we are having dinner at my house or someone elses.  If it is at my house I'm typically in the kitchen most of the day, with very little down time.  By choosing to do a ham yesterday rather than a turkey, and going with Stove Top stuffing (much to my family's chagrin) rather than homemade, dinner was a cinch to put together.

We all got up by 8 yesterday, and went to see Rent at our local theater.  It was good, some of the themes in it were over the head of the kids, but they were themes I don't think children should be sheltered from.  Let's face it, Aids is not the lightest of subjects, but I think many kids need to be aware of the realities of the disease.

We got home a little before noon and were feeling peckish.  Instead of having lunch, I decided to make dinner then.  It only took a few minutes over an hour to make the entire dinner (ham, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, dressing, peas, carrots, and rolls with honey butter).  We had dinner shortly after 1, and then nibbled off and on the rest of the day and evening.

I had to watch a couple other movies for my class, and we had the DVD's yesterday, so we spent the day relaxing and watching movies.  I think after I write up the papers for these movies, I'm done with all of the assignments I will need for this class.  I need to look it over again and be sure.  It would be awesome if I did have it all done!

I also need to find out when registration is for next term.  There is a math class on Monday/Wednesday from 7:40 - 10:30 and a computer class on Saturdays from 8:00 - 1:00 that I hope to get into.  I sincerely hope that there are two classes every term that I can take.  If there is I think I will graduate in or about June 2007.

I've been talking to Hubby again about the possibility of my finding a part time job.  Something that would offer 3 or 4 hours a day while the kids are in school.  It would be nice to have a little extra $$ every month to help get out of debt a bit faster.

OK, time to go find dinner.  Left-over ham and dressing sounds divine right about now!  Not to mention, the sooner we are done with the ham, the sooner I can make soup!

You know the thing about turkey that I don't care for are the bones. I wonder if they sell de-boned turkeys? Kosher? ;-) Maybe that's asking too much.

Glad you had a good day.
