The Saga Continues
Tue Sep 13 2005

Last night went better with Shelby, there were no accidents inside.  After the night before I decided to force myself to be wide awake the minute I heard her make any noise.  I also slept in my clothes (except shoes) so there was less preparation time on my part before getting her outside.

It is my goal for today to try to not have any inside accidents with her.  It helps that I don't have any appointments, so I won't be rushing around.  I will have to conitnue on the laundry saga to be sure she has clean and sweet smelling bedding for the crate, but that shouldn't cause too much disruption.

My biggest hope for the day is that I can get in a nap or two of more than 15 minutes.  It is definitely good that I don't have any appointments as I don't know that I'm safe to be driving while I'm this tired!

When Robbie was a puppy, I was at home with him all the time. I used to set my timer for 30 minutes and just take him outside and tell him "Go Potty!" and by golly that worked pretty darn well. It was a full time job of course. But only for a couple of weeks. :-)

    Good luck.

What ever happened to that book for parents called "Potty Training in a Day"? Oh yeah, that was for humans.... never mind. Bwwaaahhhhaahhh!

I crate trained both my dogs. It was wonderful and alot easier.. they use their crates now as a place to sleep...

Can't agree more about the crate training. I've used it on my last three dogs with terrific results. I've heard people say its inhumane to crate a puppy. I say its inhumane to take months to train a puppy without a crate only to give up and get rid of the pup in frustration. I suspect that's one of the reasons Maggie wound up at the pound because she was left out in the house when they weren't home and was destructive and/or had accidents.

Give Shelby a tummy rub from Auntie Bob....

P.S. hope you find the checkbook. I lost the check register once and it was a nightmare trying to get it sorted out *sigh*

Your checkbook, my keys. Are our Black Holes related?

I do have my keys back. The BH disgorged them this morning.

Did you check in the kid's backpacks?

*shrugs* I'm not sure... Just thought it sounded like something I would do, especially if the kids were right there with you when you wrote the checks. Might have written the checks, got caught up in something else, and as you rushed out the door, instead of slipping the checkbook into your purse, slipped it into an unzipped pocket on a bag instead...

I have always crate trained my dogs too. When Alex and Heather were visiting with their dog, he was crate trained too.
I don't know if I could do a puppy again, just reading about it makes me tired. :)
