This year it was held at a local lake, so there was swimming for the kids and a couple of the folks even brought their boats. #2 and #3 spent a few hours in the water and are nice and worn out now. #1 is grounded, so he didn’t spend any time in the water. Instead, he got to stay after with Hubby and help clean up.
We brought Indigo with us this year. We haven’t in the past and I found that I always wished I did bring her. She was in heaven. Lounging around in the shade being adored by kids and adults alike, the perfect afternoon for a dog! The many scraps, hot dogs and partially eaten hamburgers or grilled chicken made it all the better for her! #1 found a big chunk of ice in one of the coolers and brought it over for her. She licked and gnawed on it when she wasn’t otherwise occupied with eating or people petting her.
It was, quite possibly, a perfect day. Until we got home and #2 realized he had left his retainer back at the park.
Panic ensued. Hubby was still there cleaning up, so I began my phone campaign to get a hold of him. He had turned the volume off on his phone and it was set on vibrate, so the first 25 calls to him went unanswered as he didn’t feel the vibration. Finally, he answered and much to my relief he had found the retainer and has it with him.
Whew!
We were back to it being a perfect day despite a period of time spent worrying.
And now … a perfect bit of the afternoon left for me to get back to the book I’m in the middle of!
