Well ... it took a lot longer to get the kids up and going than I thought it would, and we missed the ferry by 5 minutes. Bummer.
We decided to go over anyway on a later ferry since we had driven that far, and just play tourists for the day. We caught the 12:30 ferry which put us in there at 2:45. We only had about 4 hours to do this since the last ferry back was at 7:30. That was OK though. 4 hours of sightseeing for my boys was more than enough.
I think the thing they enjoyed the most was the underwater aquarium. They decided that watching 2 octopi fight (or possibly mate, we couldn’t really tell what the melee was all about) was the most exciting part of the day. That was until the ferry trip back when the twins met the group of cute girls. I think for them that event overrode the rest of the day for the twins. #3 was a bit indifferent to the girls, but enjoyed hanging out and playing cards with their younger brother.
Of course on the Ferry trip, there was the mandatory time spent up at the point of the bow yelling “I’m the king of the world!” by anyone on the ferry under 25. The kids stood in line for this for about a half an hour before they got their turn.
We liked the area up there enough that the boys and I are going to talk to Hubby about maybe going up there towards the end of August for a few days of camping.
So, we didn’t make the (as Pragmatist called it) Cattle Call, but it was a fun day.
