There is, however, a fly in the ointment regarding the rules. There are several houses across the street from us that are rentals (a thorn in my side and tangent I will get into in another entry). While the owners of the homes had to sign and agree to the covenants, the inhabitants did not.
I would not have a problem with the people renting the house across the street from me, except for the fact that they have a small driveway, never use their garage for parking, and have SIX cars. Four of the cars are always parked out on the street, even when the driveway is empty, there is at least 2 cars parked on the street.
There have been at least two other neighbors besides ourselves that have asked them to not park on the street. These requests have been basically ignored. Complaints have been made to the neighborhood association by at least two of us neighbors. We will see if anything is done about it. The covenants state that cars found parking on the street will be towed. I’m curious to see if this is actually done.
The house is a 4000 square foot house, and from what I can tell, there are somewhere between 6 and 10 people living there, possibly more. These folks are not frequently seen outside the house except between 9:30 and 11:30 at night when they seem determined to make as much noise as possible.
OK, I’m sure that is not really what they are intending to be doing, but that is the time when they choose to juggle cars around from the street and the driveway (oh, did I mention they block part of the driveway next door to them and make it hard to get in and out of the driveways across the street from them?) and unload various things from their cars into the house, and sit out on their porch talking.
Asking them to please be a bit more quiet has resulted in their replies along the lines of “Sorry Dudes, we will keep it down”. Of course, they have yet to actually keep it down.
This home is owned by the same people that own three of the 4 remaining rentals across from us. All of these houses are the same size, and my concern is that they will all be filled with similar tenants.
I never thought I would say this, but I find myself hoping that they all lose their jobs or somehow can’t pay rent, and they all move out. It may be selfish and horrid of me to wish that, but I’m tired of their inconsideration.
