#1 set out on his bike and on his own, to go find treasures he could talk people out of (he has no money). I offered for him to come with #2 and I (I have money to trade for chores if the boys were to find any such treasures), but he wanted to go treasure hunting on his own.
#2 and I found several goodies, and I got all the floors vacuumed and bathrooms cleaned as a result. I found several canning jars. #2 groaned loudly, complaining that I already had enough. "Nonsense!" I told him. We also found a brand new Eddie Bauer sweatshirt for a couple bucks, some books and a free weight set for a song. We were in the van, and there was no way the free weights would fit in it, so #2 and I headed home. Hubby and I headed back out with the truck. After loading up the weights, Hubby and I drove through the remaining streets of that neighborhood, adding a full set of golf clubs ($15) to the pile of loot. I announced at that point that I was Garage Sale’d Out. We had only gone through two of the 7 neighborhoods, I had been out just a hair over 2 hours, and I was done.
All the treasures yet to be found would be left unfound. My parents would be so disappointed that I quit so soon were they here this weekend. I was done though.
More importantly, it wasn't raining, and I had things in the yard I wanted to get done. Besides, I had spent enough money for the weekend on the treasures we found.
So, we came home and hit the yard. The honeysuckle got planted, the blueberry got planted, the raised beds got weeded, the lawn mowed, the path built on the garage side of the house, all the leftover lumber moved out of the way until Hubby can dream up his next project, and the side yard was put into order from the disarray it had been in. Now, we are bushed and ready to go to the Y and hit the hot tub!
Now, where is my towel?
