Yippie!!!
Tue Jan 25 2005

I slept more than 2 hours last night! For 7 hours and a handful of minutes, I actually slept, and all of it was during hours of darkness!!! Do I dare hope this will be the beginning of a trend?

I have a full day ahead of me that will be filled with going through all our files to get our tax stuff together for our appointment tomorrow. Doesn't that sound thrilling? Not. It will be nice to get it out of the way for the year. The more I think about it though, the more I get the feeling that we may not have all of the various scraps of paper for the taxes yet. I should know better as I go through all the files. This would be much easier if I had the forethought to create a tax folder a year ago to put everything in as it came in. Maybe I’ll remember to set that up this year. Of course that would take all the fun out of the scavenger hunt I undertake each year to find all the bits and pieces needed to do the blasted things in the first place.

Maybe I could do without that bit of fun eh?

We had intended to keep the kids in their current schools for the rest of the year despite the upcoming move. Yesterday however, #1 and #2 asked about switching schools once we were moved. This is something that we will take into consideration and discuss more. It would certainly make my life easier, and let them sleep in a bit more in the mornings. That in itself would make it worthwhile! One interesting thing about the school the twins will attend is that while school is out at 2 on most days, every Wednesday the school is released at 1. For #3 dismissal time on Wednesdays is noon. Every Wednesday for a few hours the teachers take the time they would usually take for an “in service” day. By doing this there are fewer “no school” days during the year. What a concept, kids spending time in the classroom. Gee, maybe the trend will catch on with other schools.

Also on Wednesdays, the entire district has extensive activities and clubs for the students. They have the option of going home or being involved in one of many activities. I noticed one of the activities was gymnastics, and since #3 is crazy about gymnastics I hope that it is offered for boys as well as girls. I should know more once I start talking with folks in the district.

    G'day mate,
Beaut entry about Australia Day you've got up there.
    Not bad for a sheila!
No prawns on the barbie for me today.
    I'm off to a birthday party (a mate's, not the country's).
The part about the lack of knowledge that you Yanks have about us Aussies was funny (but not surprising).
Koala sanctuary! Struth! Those drongos would have to be a bob short of a quid!
Righto, I'm off to have some fun in the sun (it's pissing down rain actually!).
    Hooroo

Uh huh. Sounds like me saying "I'm not keeping this foster. I'm not keeping this foster." I notice you didn't say anything about the dog getting you. :)

How about AFTER you move into your new house you get the kids an INDOOR cat. All of them just LOVE cats. If you kept it indoors only you could declaw it. THat way too the boys would not feel like Rocky was being "Replaced" because it is a cat. And I know they would be thrilled to have a cat. But please keep it indoors so it won't get lost of hurt. It would just kill the kids to lose yet another pet.
