Finding The Best Deal
Fri Jan 21 2005

So, we found out that if we open a checking account with the bank we are going through with our home purchase, and use electronic payments through said checking account to make the payments, we can get a deduction of .25% on our interest rate.

A quarter of a point of interest doesn't sound like much, but when you consider it in relation to hundreds of thousands of dollars, it adds up to hundreds or thousands of dollars a year (depending on the price of your home of course!) Since our last name is not Gates or Trump, we look for everything possible to take advantage of.

Speaking of Trump... Hubby and I saw The Apprentice tonight. It should prove to be interesting with the "Book Smarts" versus "Street Smarts" teams. I thought it spoke volumes that the group without college degrees, were worth three times more than the college graduates. Part of me wonders though whether or not having to pay back student loans may or may not have contributed to that. Also, it was not said whether that figure reflected their current bank accounts, or yearly salaries. I wonder what it will say to the corporate world if those that dominate this version of The Apprentice are those without college. Of course we will have to wait and see which team comes out on top. I also don’t see any real changes in job requirements at that level changing as a result of what boils down to a game show.

A game show with high stakes, but a game show nonetheless.

I saw a bit of a show about mortgages and mortgage rates. The person who was speaking is a Realtor and says property is going to double in the next few years. so if you got a good rate now.. Stick with it..
I think shopping around for the best rate is a MUST !!!
You can always refinance, but why go through all that if you have a good deal in the beginning. Good job on your part..
    Bravo
So when do you think move in date may be??
    So excited for you..

I watched it too. I think the guy who was the leader on the "street smarts" team is going to be one of the final two. Maybe even the winner. I can see lots of people who are no where near the quality the Trump organization will need. Get rid of that hippy idiot. He acted like a street performer. Dose he really think on organization like Trumps is going to take someone who dose something of such a low class? THey want a "Professional" POLISHED person not a clown.

A quarter percent savings is huge in the long haul. Go for it!

I missed the first part of the Apprentice, but was clearly impressed with what I saw from the "Street Smarts" gang. I fully expect the "Book Smarts" crowd to come in second, not due to their education persay, but more the attitude that seems to come from graduating an Ivy League school. They always seem to think they are better than everyone else. More often than not these ever so educated Trump wannabes have such a superior attitude it boggles the mind that any of them suceed anywhere. *LOL* It should be a fun season.
