Not Quite Going To Church
Sun Oct 24 2004

We headed out this morning, all dressed up in our Sunday Go To Meetin' Clothes ready to sing our hearts out and hear the word of the lord. It was our intention to go to the later service this morning to see if the crowd had more families and kids the age of our own so the boys could see that it wasn't just grandparents and a couple kids that belong to the church.

Somewhere along the way this morning we got our times really mixed up, and were 45 minutes early getting there. Since our church is out in the direction of our up and coming new house, we went out to gaze adoringly at our pile of dirt and mud puddles. We spent too much time out there and ended up not going to church this morning. Instead we spent about an hour talking about what all happened this week that we are thankful for, and what the upcoming weeks have to also be thankful for.

We are now at home, each puttering about contentedly. Hubby and #3 are out putting up decorations for Halloween (I’m not sure if they will put up the 12 foot inflatable illuminated ghost as we have some weather coming in that would possibly liberate Ghostie). #2 is carving a good old fashioned Jack-O-Lantern, #1 is playing a video game while describing the Barf-O-Lantern he will be doing again this year (the one in the picture is not his, it is just the picture that inspired him). I should be doing homework, but am having a hard time focusing today. I’ll take all day tomorrow and head out to the public library with #3 and we will spend our time there doing our homework. I’m fairly sure once #3 is done with his work he will find some books to keep him occupied for a while. That should give me the extra time I need to finish whatever I get started.

With the kids carving pumpkins, it has me thinking of recipes past. The year I had #3, I found a recipe for pumpkin cookies that was out of this world. I want to search around and see if I can find it again to make them in the next week or so. I also will be making some pumpkin pies in the upcoming weeks, and a sweet potato pie or two. All of my intended baking will be yummy. Not good for my hips, but yummy!

Good luck with the boys. And do you NOT take the missing items to them?

Sometimes boys take awhile before they become human.

I had a Sunday like that but I didn't make it to church because my youngest son decided to get sick and throw up all over his Sunday best and that was the start of a monsterous week.
    Things are better now.
I bet you are excited about your new house. I can't wait until we can start building ours.
    It will be so nice.
Hope all is well with you and your family.
    Take care,
    ~C
