ImNotLisa's comment gave me this idea. I know what I'm going to do with all the surplus zucchini this year.
Feed it to Rocky.
Veggies are very good for dogs, and Rocky is a chow-hound-extraordinaire. No, not a Chow as in the breed, but a chow-hound in that he eats everything and anything he sets his eyes on. This dog goes nuts for veggies. I think for a while the treat he is given to go out into the back yard and munch on will be pieces of zucchini. Tonight he had a whole one for dinner, and he was in heaven! I've never seen a dog salivate that much over a vegetable!
With luck, this will be a good thing. Rocky, like me, needs to be on a diet. If I can substitute one of his meals a day with zucchini, the caloric intake will reduce significantly.
Now if I could only discipline myself to the same regimen…
