It's All Greek To Me
Thu Aug 12 2004

I'm really regretting the lapse of time between my taking math 125 and math 126. So far, each lesson has been as if someone is speaking a language that I don't understand. Heck, with all the sigma's we are dealing with right now, it is all Greek to me!

I am hoping to spend some quiet and uninterrupted time hitting the books this weekend. It will take me waking up at a ludicrous hour in the mornings to ensure the kids aren't up yet, but I need to do it to help myself feel not so lost. I think I may also take one of the kids to the library later in the day, and stay there studying while whichever boy browses the aisles of books in search of the ultimate Garfield or Calvin & Hobbs book. This method has worked before, so hopefully it will work again now. It helps that the library has computers with internet connections they can use to check their e-mail and fiddle around with their diaries.

#2 accompanied me to class tonight, and despite it being a math class, he says he enjoyed it. I think his enjoyment is largely due to his being able to play his Gameboy uninterrupted for 2.5 hours. I could be wrong on this, but I doubt it.

With tomorrow being payday, I’m really looking forward to the trip to the commissary. My list is short and sweet, “Buy everything”. That should cover it well enough! I need to get my butt out of bed to be there early before all the other payday shoppers. Paydays at the store here is akin to a madhouse, elbows flying and carts hurtling up and down aisles. Buyer beware only pertains to personal safety on payday. The retiree’s are the worst. You’ve never seen such vicious shoppers. Heaven help you if you are standing in front of the bran cereal when they reach for it. Mothers with young babies are another type of shopper to look for. Their strategy consists of urging their child to emit an ear piercing scream, which clears out an aisle and leaves them free to browse at leisure.

Maybe I should invest in some football gear and ear plugs?
