Well I went to church tonight. Im always usually blessed when I go and feel so much better, amazing how its sometimes hard for me to feel motivated to go but I make myself do it, then afterwards Im so thankful I did go.
Worship was great as usual. Its a college age setting, and they use the main sanctuary but and have a full on band. The guy who leads the worship I have known since way back, not really well but he always hung out with a few guys from my old church college group and he often came to events so wed cross paths often. He plays guitar really well and has a great voice. Its cool cause they dim the lights and have candles lit on tables around the sanctuary, it just makes it feel so much more intimate. And they always have communion. But they do this different also. They just have tables set up in corners with the bread and juice. They have a quiet song and a time for all of us to reflect to ourselves, pray whatever we want to pray, and then we have the choice to get up and partake in communion, but nobody gives it to you or tells you when do eat or drink. You do it all yourself, just you and the Lord. Which I think is cool also.
The messages havent really hit me much when I have been, Ive only been to this group about 4 times before this, but tonight the message was good. Or maybe Im just recieving it differently? It was on Love mainly.
The leader told us a story as follows.....
This is a true story.
There was a town that had a library and most of the books came from donations, used books. So this man had checked out a book that had a lot of writing in the margins and parts underlined. Also a womans name was in the book. He spent about 3 mos searching and found her address and wrote her a letter. They began to correspond thru letters. Having wonderful conversations, and then began to fall in love with one another thru these letters. Well the man was then drafted off to war, and he wrote her and told and asked if she still wanted to correspond with him, she said yes please keep writing. So he wrote her once a week for 18 mos. During that time he had asked her to send him a picture of herself. She responded No, I dont want us to be consumed with appearances but with the heart. So he continued to write to her. When he returned back from the war they had planned to meet at Grand Central Station. She said you will know me because I will wear a red rose on my dress. He said he would stand under the huge clock and be in his uniform.
So he stood there and looked around when he spotted a woman in a gorgeous green dress, beautiful woman in her 20s, blonde hair, nice figure. And she caught his look and smiled at him. She then walked toward him and said "Going my way sailor?" and he was ready to say "HECK YEAH!" but then noticed there was no red rose. He then caught out of the corner of his eye a woman in the distance and there was the red rose. Immediatly he was dissapointed. She looked to be in her mid 40s a little overweight, but she had a nice smile on her face. For a second he thought "I could just leave with this other woman, she will never know, there are other men here in uniform" But then he thought "No I have talked with this woman for so long, I need to go and meet her, whether or not we have a future together as a couple or not is ok, she is still someone I greatly care about and I need to go spend time with her. So he walked over to the woman and said "Hello, Im Dave, I see you are wearing the red rose" She responded "Young man, Im not sure what you are talking about but a woman in a green dress handed me this rose and told me to wear it and said that if you came and spoke to me that I was to tell you she will be waiting for you in the cafe next door."
Awweeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
The speaker said at the close of this,, "Look, all the ladies are wiping there eyes, and all you guys are thinking "Man! He almost blew it!"
