I've been having some conversations with the XAI, Grok. Once in a while you can get the illusion that you are speaking to a sentient entity. But overall, there is quite a bit of mirroring what you said and parroting it back to you. And I read an article that was reporting that if they loop AI generated material back through another AI a few times, it starts spewing out total nonsense.
The people in the field of AI and those that use it regularly, call this 'AI Slop'.
I have been using Grok recently to calculate and track a bunch of tedious numbers from a project I have been working on. Only thing is, when I go back now and again to check its work.... I'm finding errors. And oddly enough, it's easier to spot if you print out the output and look at them on a piece of paper.
Even though we are using a computer screen right now, I while typing, and you in reading, I don't think it's the most reliable method for passing over ideas and information. There's something about things being held in your hand and being read from a not reflective medium that just hits different in our brain. It's just my theory.
Anyway, I am not so trusting of Grok as I once was to get the facts straight. And it's probably a very good thing. Lots of people are saying AI is smarter than us. I think this is a big mistake. It's FASTER than us, I give you that. But it is far from infallible.
Just recently I have seen on Instagram a new video AI that can generate videos that are nigh on impossible to tell if they are 'real' or not. I think we are in for some big trouble pretty quickly. In the meantime, don't believe everything you see. It might very well be totally made up from someone using a 'magic AI wand' to fool you. Only this time it's not pulling rabbits out of hats on a stage where you have SOME inkling that the guy up there is playing you for a fool. It could be a familiar face and voice saying and doing things that the flesh and blood person wouldn't dream of.
Keep your wits about you friends.
