Ick

Hot. Icky hot. Those are the only words to describe today, icky hot. It has finally cooled down to the mid 70’s now that the sun has dipped over the horizon, but we are still trying to cool down the inside of the house. Thankfully it is supposed to be almost 20 degrees cooler tomorrow than it was today. It will still be hot, but it won’t be stupid hot. While the weather service website claims that we only got up to 94 today, the thermometers here in my neighborhood hit 103.

Right now it has cooled down enough that the kids and Indigo are finally hungry. The kids have descended upon the kitchen like a plague of locusts. Leftovers, peanut butter, fruit and tuna fish are not safe. Around our neighborhood all the kitchen lights are burning with other residents raiding their own fridges. The season of the Midnight Snack has arrived.

Hubby and I have been talking houses again lately. We spoke with the bank and got pre-approved, so now we just need to sock away some more cash in the bank while we casually look at what is out there. We have tentatively talked about moving sometime between this fall and next summer. I’m leaning towards next summer as that gives us more time to put away more cash and pay down our debt more. If I remember correctly, the van should be paid off by the end of next summer, and we will almost definitely have at least one of the credit cards paid off by next summer also. I will breathe much easier when we are not so much slaves to the existing debts.

We also need to come to an agreement on where we want to move to. Hubby wants to be out away from the city, but not too far. I want to be away from the city far enough that the property taxes aren’t sky high, which is about 10 to 20 minutes further of a drive than Hubby prefers. I suppose it all depends on what we find, and where it is located as to what we will settle on. I have come to realize that I’m not going to be able to talk him into Alaska at this point, so I will have to shoot for that as our retirement move.

I don't do summers. All things considered, I'd rather be elsewhere. San Francisco would be nice. Never gets triple digits there.

Ah, well, I'll just stay in, keep the fans going, and venture out after the sun goes down. Then along about September, I'll bring my pale, vampire body out to the light of day.

    Shalom

Icky hot finally gave way to cool breezes here last night. Whew! Glad the heat wave is over. One more day and I'm sure I would have melted.

Ick is right! Thankfully today is much cooler. I managed to get my friend to give me his old air conditioner after I was about to pass out from heat exhaustion! So now the only problem left was to mount a shelf outside the window to support this beast. I bought all the supplies needed and headed back home. I started in on screwing the brackets to the outside of the house. Unfortunately the only power in my tools comes from me. My hands are now raw as I tried and struggled to push those big screws into the siding. I was literally dripping in sweat when I finally finished. It was worth the pain though, my house is sooooo much more comfortable today!

Kick back, have a beer and be queen of Sheba, after all you have children, make them fan you with large palms. LOL
