Bribery, Ya Gotta Love It
Wed Feb 18 2004

I can't speak for anyone elses children, but mine respond wonderfully to bribery.

With my folks coming back into town later today, I wanted to get all the kids stuff picked up from the common areas of the house. I knew if I just asked the kids, and prompted them, it might get done in 8 hours or so. So, instead I set the timer for a fairly short amount of time and announced that if they had everything cleaned up by the time the timer went off we would go get Blizzards from Dairy Queen. I had given them 15 minutes. They had it done in 5.

I just love it when bribery works that well!

Now for me to keep plugging away at the laundry and my homework and maybe I'll be in a good place when I go to get my folks in a few hours.

In other news...

Hubby and I went to have our taxes done last night. We had anticipated a return no where near as nice as the one last year, where we had the sale of our house to bulk it up a bit.

Boy were we wrong. Our return this year is $1200 more than the one we had last year.

Cool.

We will be paying off one of our cards with this and stuffing the rest into the "Someday" account.

Definitely a highlight of the week.

Isn't it nice that us parents can use bribery without the kids knowing that we are using it.
